Paris-Orléans-Limoges-Toulouse (POLT) railway line

The project for renovating the ‘POLT’ line (Paris-Orléans-Limoges-Toulouse), worth €3.5 million (including €1.5 million for Colas) was signed in late 2019 by Colas SA and Colas Rail for their client SNCF.

This project involves three French agencies of Colas Rail during a 6-month period (Tracks and Sidings North-East, Overhead Lines North and Heavy Equipment agencies) and will be carried out in coordination with the Colas agency located in Chartres.

Different areas of expertise are included in this project: track works, overhead lines, earthworks and drainage works.

For Colas Rail, the project was in two phases:
The first phase took place from January until March, mainly on weekends, and includes works to simplify 4 switches and crossings.
The second phase took place in May and includes:

  • building 2 x 500 linear metres of service track
  • renovation of 7 switches and crossings
  • renovation of 600 linear metres of main line track

As the line is completely closed off to railway traffic, the works will take place mainly at weekends, involving between 43 and 55 hours of non-stop operations, representing large-scale maintenance work over the entire POLT line.
